Charity Evening 12th November 2016

Posted by Paul Fairweather on 20th Sep 2016
Hello everyone,
We have decided to host our own charity Boxing show to raise funds for Harry Senior. I trained with Harry at the Henry Cooper gym, Thomas a beckett and Lennox Lewis college under the guidance of Bryan Lawrence.
Harry suffered a stroke on the 2nd December 2009, during a sparring session with Albert Sosnowski ahead of the Polish fighter’s European title fight with Paolo Vidoz, and subsequently required life saving surgery, at The National Hospital for Neurology and Neuro-surgery at Queen Square in London, where he had part of his skull removed to allow his brain to swell, before starting the slow road to recovery at The Frank Cooksey Rehabilitation Unit at King’s College Hospital.
During his distinguished career Harry boxed for England in the amateurs and fought the best domestic fighters in the pro ranks, including Danny Williams for the Commonwealth title And won the Southern Area Heavy title against an unbeaten Michael Sprott In a thriller at York Hall.
The fund raiser is on Sat November 12th, and appreciate everyones support whether they can attend or donate an auction prize. I sat with Harry and Dave Walker on my table this year at the London ex boxers awards and it was heartbreaking to see Harry. I hadn't seen him since before his surgery in 2009.
Any amount raised for a ex-champion who I boxed with will be greatly appreciated. The show will feature 8 fights all at 3 x 2 rounds and most fighters are novices with little and no experience. We are still recruiting fighters so if anyone fancies getting in fighting shape and climbing through the ropes in the hardest sport of all then please message me.
We have also managed to secure the services of none other than former World champion " Celtic warrior" Steve Collins as host and referee.
Look forward to a great night.
Thanks everyone,
yours in Boxing
Allan Gray
